SCOTTY MOORE'S

A TRIBUTE TO THE KING

By Scotty Moore & Friends

Live At Abbey Road Studios

Released 16th May 2006

December 2004 and London’s famous Abbey Road Studios plays host to a stellar line-up of  legendary guitar gods, for a very special one-off tribute concert in honour of The King’s first guitarist, first manager and life-long friend, Scotty Moore.  Universal Music is proud to announce the May 16th,  2006 DVD US premiere of A Tribute To The King, featuring the songs made famous by Elvis Presley, by Scotty Moore and friends.

In a year which saw the re-release of Presley’sThat’s Alright Mama’ commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Rock ’n’ Roll, it seemed only fitting that celebrated guitarist Scotty Moore should lead an exclusive tribute concert, showcasing the music made famous by The King of Rock N' Roll. Moore was joined at Abbey Road by a roster of international music heroes including Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, The Rolling Stones' Ron Wood and Bill Wyman, Albert Lee and many more.

The shows music producers Ron Lovely and Bill Wyman invited the UK's who's who of Rock to perform with the Guitarist Who Rocked the World , Scotty Moore, on over two dozen Presley recordings. Songs including ‘Heartbreak Hotel’, ‘Shake, Rattle And Roll’, ‘All Shook Up’ and ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ are captured for DVD in stunning 5.1 dts, 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound and 2.0 Dolby Stereo.  The producers also conducted extensive interviews with Moore, Jerry Schilling, Eric Clapton and all the musicians who gathered at Abbey Road, in order to present a collection of bonus feature interviews, exclusive to the DVD A Tribute To The King.

Scotty Moore and his friend musician / music producer Ron Lovely wanted to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first recordings by the trio Scotty Moore, Elvis Presley and Bill Black from their historic Sun Records sessions. Scotty told Ron, '  Elvis planned to tour Europe with Scotty and drummer D.J. Fontana, but soon after Presley's famous 1968 Comeback TV special Elvis went to Las Vegas instead.' So exactly 50 years later Scotty played the concert his good friend Elvis would have wanted to play. This Concert on Universal DVD is hosted by Elvis' life-long friend, Jerry Schilling.

Whilst fans of Elvis hold a warm place in their hearts for Presley's original manager, band leader and guitar player on over 500 Elvis recordings, Scotty Moore is cited as the genuine rock pioneer by guitarists world wide.  A musical role model, respected and admired by professional and amateur guitarists alike, A Tribute To The King is a chance for those fans to enjoy again the songs made famous by Elvis Presley and the music he created with Scotty Moore.
